Can somebody please help me?
I'm new to Drupal. I really like the functionality, but I'm have a major problem -- the second time in two weeks.
I installed my site and various modules to give it functionality. Then, I began adding content. Then, all of the sudden, the site crashed with just plain garble on the screen. I did a fresh install and it did it again.
The error message is: Fatal error: Call to undefined function: user_access() in /home/example/public_html/sitefolder/includes/menu.inc on line 1346
Does anyone know what's going on? I'm operating in offline mode. Could that be it?
This happened both times when I was accessing something in the administrative/menu area.
Above the error message, this is what I get on the site now:

Additional Detail from Error Log
I noticed in my error log that this error occurred 5 times before the site crashed entirely.
The first time was less than 2 minutes after the hour (cron run time). Don't know if this is important.
The fifth time it took the site down. I was logged in with a user name that has full administrative access.
vti.... that looks familiar.
vti.... that looks familiar. Are you using Frontpage to publish other stuff? Because if you are, frontpage creates vti folders within all site folders and can cause lots of problems. Solution: delete those additional folders and info files and don't use frontpage.
If you arent using frontpage then someone else may be able to assist.
Yikes, You're Right About Frontpage
I did use Frontpage for my main, HTML site.
In fact, I tried to update a page in the morning and the Frontpage would not respond. I imagine it was busy messing up my Drupal site. Then, later, my Drupal site was broken.
I removed the vti folders from my Drupal site folders, but still it's not working. If I remove them from the Frontpage site, which is in the root of my public_html folder within which the Drupal site lives, I'm going to break that site.
Any suggestions? Thanks for helping identify the problem.
Problem Solved
With the information on the Frontpage issue, I was able to search the forum for someone who solved the problem.
After removing all the vti_ folders, I had to go into the system database and remove the vti_ extensions from many of the module paths that Frontpage had changed.
Once this was done, the site came right back.
The trick now is to figure out what to do with my Frontpage site. Clearly, I can't use Frontpage to edit. That will recreate my problem.
But the Frontpage site is in the root of my domain. My Drupal site is an add-on domain. I may have to separate the two...
Thanks for all the help.
Drupal, certain themes and FrontPage Extensions don't mix
There are a number of issues raised throughout these forums concerning Drupal sites suddenly or slowly becoming broken along with error messages that have "_vti" as part of the issue. We had this same issue for several weeks, where just going into the Modules section of the Admin Panel would cause the entire site to break and turn into vti messages everywhere.
Upon investigation and testing, we discovered that certain themes (such as Multi-Flex) will definitely break the entire site if FrontPage Extensions are turned on, on a site. This is because the FrontPage extensions are somehow creating shortcuts in a directory that is parsed first before the main site files are parsed.
Since we are not using FrontPage, we got in touch with the support team at ANHosting/MidPhase which is one of the web hosting companies we use, and asked them how this can happen. They could not understand the problem and didn't have any solution.
We discovered that they and other web hosts often set up new accounts on Linux/Apache based servers with FrontPage extensions already loaded by default. The reason they do this is NOT because they assume you will use FrontPage. It is because they are using a shortcut to allow a web developer using Windows to make "a new Network place" to drag files up onto the web server from the desktop. I guess over time someone got the "bright" idea to pre-load the extensions for whatever reason.
Once FrontPage extensions are REMOVED from the site and "cleaned up" any "My Network Places" shortcuts to the site may break because FrontPage is providing some kind of convenient WebDav backdoor to get into a site. In that case, on a PC running Windows you would have to make a new Network Place using the format of "ftp://www.mydomainname.com/ and fill in username an password in order to have the ability to get into the webhosting server from your desktop without using a specialized ftp program such as CuteFTP or Dreamweaver etc. I hope I've made this clear.
Once FrontPage extensions are removed, the site will work fine. We did have to go into our MySql database usiing PHPMyAdmin and search for instances of " vti " and remove them from the database, but once that was done, the sites we broke so completely came back to life instantly.
I hope this helps someone out there because we searched all over these forums to find an answer and finally figured it out on our own.
Where in database to delete?
I'm having a similar problem.
Where in the database do I find and delete instances of "vti"? There are 40+ tables.
Deleted all vti folders
I deleted all the vti folders. Now I don't have the vti error messages anymore. I just have this error:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function user_access() in /www/test/modules/aggregator/aggregator.module on line 33
Am I correct to assume that if I delete the "vti" in my database, my site should come back? Again, where in the database would these "vti"s be?
Your help would be greatly appreciated.
