well, I've posted a couple of issues (eg #579376: update fails at BlueHost - "Unable to fetch any information about available new releases and updates." ) and they have been marked as duplicate - true, but the other threads were inconclusive, people reporting an issue with available updates that just fixes itself... hmmm... and I'm not using the imagecache module either -
in dblog the message is "Unable to fetch any information about available new releases and updates."
I have made sure that port 80 is open on my hosting server and that IP 140.211.166.6 is not blacklisted or blocked in any way
I have made a fresh install of D 6.13 (now updated to 6.14) with the minimum modules enabled - only core required, dblog, and update - and we still have the problem populating the updates page
I have also happened to try a different ISP for my host computer and still the available updates at BlueHost are not working
along the way, I found out there are 70 "suspect" domains on my shared IP - and after forwarding this report to BlueHost they appear to be working on weeding out the baddies
Randall,
Thank you for your e-mail.Sadly, whilst your site may be safe, the IP is not. I've currently got 70
active cases on this IP range that your hosting company will need to deal
with before I can unblock them (they've failed to respond both by e-mail and
telephone).http://hosts-file.net/?s=69.89.31.246
Your site is also not listed in my database;

so, my question is, does master.drupal.org block my IP because of my bad neighbors?
