I have been looking all over and can't find a solution...

I'm using the default front page (/node/) with "Promoted to Front Page"... and it's been working great.
However, I got up to 11 promoted pages and paging kicked in. I need to turn this of or up the limit of promoted pages before paging kicks in...

Adjust the "Number of posts on main page" setting on the Post settings page (admin/content/node-settings).

For maximum flexibility, you might consider creating a view to override the default output.
