It really can be time consuming to try to find information on this drupal.org site. It makes it tough to find answers to sometimes simple questions. They could use a database search function that parses messages for relevant information.

Anyway, I just installed Captcha and the fonts are unreadable. I saw a message previously (that I can't find now) that explained where to find fonts to download and the process of installing them for Captcha.

Help? links?

It says nothing about how to download fonts or install them in drupal.

Just type "free truetype fonts" in Google and you will have links to sites with thousands of fonts to download.

In the post linked to above there are instructions on where to upload your .ttf files, how to configure the font path and set font sizes etc.

And it's almost ALL spam.

It took me 30 minutes of looking at spam until I found some actual free truetype fonts

Also, the install mentioned in the post in question is bizarre. I have no idea how this person installed the font and got it to work on a d:/wwwroot/drupal path. Neither did the original poster, who apparently never got his problem solved.

Fortunately, I did figure all of this out and I'm going to make it easy on anyone who comes after me (see my post below)

Create a new folder in the drupal root called "fonts".

Upload your choice of font to that folder.

On the Captcha settings page set the True Type Fonts path to "fonts".

All I needed to know was that...and it was simple. I already figured it out before checking back in, but thanks for the reply.

Just so newbies in the future won't have to go through the same grief:

1. create a fonts subdirectory off of your drupal directory (ie drupal/fonts)

2. Download free fonts from a place like www.fontfreak.com (one of the few places that actually had free fonts, instead of trying to mislead you into thinking they had them, then trying to make you pay)

3. copy the TT font file into your fonts subdirectory

4. make sure that your Captcha directory setting simply has the word fonts in it (that's your subdirectory)

5. You're done! Now your Captcha should start using those fonts

You want to do a search for free or opensource fonts for Linux. You can also pull fonts from your Linux or windows desktop
