I am unable to add sub menus in primary links

I have seen numerous posts on this forum.
However I have tried it on different themes; but still it is not working!

I am following the online documentation as well as David's book; however it is not getting resolved.

I want my Primary links to show different tabs under them (like when i place cursor on forum it should also start showing the forums inside it)

Please help!

I think you are asking how to add a container to a forum?

First create the forum front page to the primary links

Step 1:
-------
Goto admin/build/menu-customize/primary-links/

Click on Add item tab

Path: Forum
Menu Title:Forums
Description:Forums
Toggle tick for enabled
Set parent item: to
Weight:0
Then save

Step 2
-------
now add the container to the forum.
Clcik on Add the item tab and add the following details

Path: forum/1
Menu:Forum topic 1
Description: discuss forum topic 1
Toggle tick for enabled
Set parent item to --Forums
Weight: 0
Then save

Actually I am asking for making a menu in Primary menu (Forum was quoted as an example cause it was used in the book).

Anyways my sub menu appears in the setting and edit pages but it does not show on the screen!

Please help!
