Great to see that a version 3 release candidate of location.module is out now!
I currently try to find a suitable geodata/location solution for a webcommunity project, and hus evaluation location.module, too - in v3 i can't get a views-based proximity filter working.
What i (and probably many others using this module) need is a exposed views-filter that enables me to enter a distance (e.g. in km) and a postal code (that gets geo-coded on the server side when retrieving the filtered views-data).
Am i too stupid, am i missing something, or is the "old" proximity search gone missing in v3, *and* a possible exposed distance filter via "Location: Coordinates" broken? The v3 "Location: Coordinates"-filter should make a proximity search possible, shouldn't it? however, configuring it for "postal code" results in only the display of a "distance" formfield (what unit?) without any postal-code filed. And configuring it to "lat/long" brings up 3 fields (lat, long and distance), however they have no influence on the view whatsoever.
There seems to be no corresponding issue at the moment.
So: Is this currently broken and being worked on? Or am i completely thinking the wrong way?
