pameeela	same, pre-christmas is always so busy, hard to find time.
dww	Day job, life responsibilities, etc. But I'm grateful to have a little time from work to do community contributions, and so far most of that has been plowed into #bugsmash activities...

3️⃣ Core bug statistics - current state of open bugs

larowlan	we went backwards this fortnight, 58 new vs 32 smashed (with our tag) (edited)

jibran	Did we see an uptick after 9.1.0 was released?

pameeela	we got a bunch when olivero was added to core, but they have been fixed quite quickly so that didn’t end up being an issue so much
dww	I'd still love to expose these stats on project pages. Anyone else up for trying to help make that happen? Or is that something I should just do on my own if/when I have time?
dww	We have a sparkline showing new issues per week... would love to have a separate one for new bugs per week, and bugs closed per week. Then we could see this stuff as a trend over time, directly on the project page, without bugging infra folks for custom queries, etc.

dww	@Michael (g-brodiei) - no specific "proper" guidance per se, but checkout the 7.x-2.x branch of project_issue and look in the "metrics" subdir. Maybe you and I should take this offline from this meeting thread and discuss elsewhere. Feel free to ping me anytime when you're ready to work on it and I'd be happy to help you figure it out. dww	For context: project_issue module already provides those graphs. This issue is about adding a couple more metrics to be tracked, and then displayed. So it's expanding some existing plumbing, not adding brand new plumbing.
Michael (g-brodiei)	Okay~, so my understanding is expanding the current display that presents the proper metrics on per project page by bugs fixed/newly created per week/fortnight (for example) :ok_hand:

dww	@Michael (g-brodiei) The current plumbing does everything by weeks. So forget fortnights for this. ;) That's the bugsmash timeframe, but weekly stats make more sense for everything else. But yes, that's the basic idea. Thanks again! And welcome to the fun, @cobenash
lendude	Ok so my thoughts on graphs for this initiative. I wouldn’t want to do what we did for the PHPUnit initiative with a line going to zero. It was realistic there, but it’s not here, we won’t get to zero. What we should strive for is less ‘open’ time for bugs, so a steeper angle on a trend line for this graph
lendude	But, that doesn’t really pop like a graph going to zero….
jibran	Can this graph be on a logarithmic scale?
lendude	Probably….I suck at math :smile:
lendude	Or maybe we can calculate an expected bug delta for a given period vs the delta we managed? Because having the delta be positive isn’t necessarily a fail. If we manage a lower than expected delta I think we have reason to be happy (edited)

4️⃣ Nominate your pet issue for a bug-smash target for the next fortnight

dww	#3187148: Add metrics for new bugs and closed/fixed bugs per week if anyone else wants to dive into the internals of project_issue. ;) I suspect this'll just be me, but maybe someone else is interested in teaming up on this?
dww	For an actual major core bug, I nominate https://www.drupal.org/project/drupal/issues/961060 (although again, I suspect I'm talking to myself here and I'm going to have to fix that if it's ever going to get better). :cricket: :wink:

Grimreaper	#2889486: "Has taxonomy term" contextual filter does not take the language value into account: years old issue. Almost done at DrupalCon Amsterdam 2019. Refreshing it during this DrupalCon, can I ping back when I am stucked?

5️⃣ Help me - Is there anything you could use a :hand: with?

quietone	This went into my 'too hard basket'. I haven't looked at it while maybe it is time to resolve it. #2652236: Insufficient link validation for external URLs in link widget (edited)
jibran	I think we need to finalize next steps here because there are so many related issues.
quietone	Right. By the end of this week I'll try to make sense of all the issues and, hopefully, suggest a way forward.

dww	I'm planning to be there, if there aren't any emergencies at work or life. The plan is to gather in a Google Meet to discuss issues in real-time over audio/video chat? I haven't done a group triage session yet, so I'd love to know more about how it'll work. Also happy to figure it out then if we don't want to discuss in this thread. :wink:

dww	Or none at all. ;) I'm still traumatized by my dad (may his memory be a blessing) measuring the success of a holiday season in the number of trash bags full of wrapping paper waste our household generated. Seemed so incredibly wasteful of time, money, resources, landfill space, etc. Call me a grinch. ;)
larowlan	everything goes in the compost here, sandy soils, all our boxes/paper/food scraps needed to keep the water in
