Roadmap for a stable 8.x-3.x release

Happy to help with stable release and become co-maintainer.

@VladimirAus is making a generous offer, would one of the maintainers mind stepping in to help out?

Someone needs to look through the D8 issues and add issues to the description here, which are stable release blockers. Volunteers welcome.

Once we have that, we'll know what we're up against.

I don't see anything Major or Critical, but I haven't had a chance to glance at each issue.

I don't have permission to add maintainers, unfortunately. :(

@VladimirAus: Please ask one of the other maintainers as I don't have the right permissions to add you.

@colan I would prefer to have stable release sooner and then have the listed issues added to the following releases otherwise we won't get stable release anytime soon. Should we try to list blockers for the release?

@VladimirAus: Feel free to split the list in half, one list for blockers and the others under "Nice to have" (or something similarly named).

I think it would be good to have these as blockers, but maybe I'm being overly cautious:

• #3135607: Automatic Label causes hook_node_update to be called -> messages sent twice
• #3076302: Set Label runs two times on node creation
• #3037753: Configuration not removed when content type (node bundle) is deleted
• #2945361: Clean up AutoEntityLabelForm
• #3061953: Entities without $in_preview property throw notice to logs
• #2859953: Automatic label for Views

Issue summary update.

And it looks like we have a good list of blockers, so adjusting the remaining tasks to reflect that.

Removed #3135607: Automatic Label causes hook_node_update to be called -> messages sent twice as duplicate of #3076302: Set Label runs two times on node creation.

It'd be nice if a new release could be tagged, even if it's another beta.

Should the new UI (#2711721: Chage user interface for label settings) be postponed so that the rest of the working functionality can have a stable release? Further improvements can be delayed until later.

I would postpone it. That UI issue hasn't had much activity.

@Maintainers: How is this related to #3286135: Automated Drupal 10 compatibility fixes? Drupal 10 is close and a Drupal 10 compatible release would be helpful.

Drupal 10 and stable version is now released.
Tasks should be targeted individually.
