Earlier today I received a response here on the forums that cured over a week of reading but finding no solutions to a particular problem. This time I am going to ask the experts sooner (I have spent two days searching for this one to no avail).
I went through one of the Views2 tutorials and created a user list. Works like a charm. I am guessing that I can do something to replace the standard Profile page, replacing it with a views generated page that can include custom fields that I have added to the registration process. But I have not been able to figure it out on my own.
So, this humble teacher is posting a little sooner this time so I can still have just a little time to plan my next lesson. ;-)
Thank you in advance for all who know what they are doing with Drupal. I love Drupal and am trying hard to learn.

actually replacing/augmenting the standard user profile is a bit more involved than using views. There's some great info & tutorials over at http://socnet.shellmultimedia.com. Though for d5, many of the concepts are the same. You'll probably want one of the profiles as nodes modules-- in d5 i used bio. For d6 the recommended module is content_profile, though I've not tried it yet. You'll probably also want to check out the advanced_profile and panels modules as well.
