I'm tryng to install and configure https://www.drupal.org/project/weight for the easiest use case possible:
Order a list of nodes with drag and drop in a view.

I thought was enough creating a new 'weight' field into the node and add the field into the view, but that was not enough with the suggested version recommended 8.x-3.0.

I then found this page https://www.drupal.org/node/1466402 that have better instruction on how to proceed and I discover that in order to have the module working we need 3 patches.
Anyway exists an alpha version more updated than the dev version, and is actually the most updated version that should be the recommended.

The last commit has been done 1.5 years ago, even if the issue list is incredible active (the module report ~50.000 installations).

I'm could to maintain at least the 8.x version of this module based on the time i've available.

I've already asked in the issue queue and received the approval by one of the maintainers of this module unfortunately he don't have enough permissions.
