Updated the metatag module and it gave me this error when updating the database.
The following updates returned messages

Failed: DatabaseSchemaObjectExistsException: Cannot add index type_revision to table metatag: index already exists. in DatabaseSchema_mysql->addIndex() (line 437 of /var/www/vhosts/dacc.edu/includes/database/mysql/schema.inc).
How can I fix this?

Check in the module's queue to see if anyone else has reported it. If not, open a support request. What the error is telling you is that it's trying to add an index to a table that already has that index. Whether that is a problem in the module or something with your database, I don't know.

Well, that's a weird error, obviously it shouldn't have happened and I'm sorry you've ran into it.
What I suggest is removing the "type_revision" index from the Metatag table, that should let the update script finish.
