I would like to setup a static page with no author, date & time stamp, etc. like the "About Drupal" or "Features" pages on drupal.org. Any good way to do this?

I'd also like to do this. I'm guessing the lack of response means its either very trivial or non-trivial...

There are two things that would really make Drupal more useful.
1) The ability to easily add static content, and build more static elements. We evaled offering the software to our clients, but rejected it because most businesses are not going to be interested in running the software because it's more "community" oriented. While great, I'd love to see it be the easy alternative to something like ez publish.
2) It's really lacking an editor. We need a simple moz/ie based editor to do the html tags, which can be turned on and off. ;-)
My 2c!
Check that...
Check #2, I found htmlarea in the modules.
However, the readme is broken (it seems to be on a lot of these). What's up with dat? ;-(
Page module
The About page and Features page are created using the page module. After you enabled the page module you can create static pages by clicking the create static page link.
