Project (distribution) in question: https://www.drupal.org/project/arrayshift

Issue #1049212: D7 port of ArrayShift was created over 4 years ago. I've responded to comment #12 in that issue via #1049212-13: D7 port of ArrayShift , about 10 days ago. eaton (current owner) has not responded so far.

A few days ago, I've used the contact form of the current maintainer, to send him a (friendly) reminder about my comment I added. So far I have NOT received any type of feedback.

With that, I believe that the procedure described in Dealing with unsupported (abandoned) projects applies, i.e. the 'Becoming owner of a project' part of it. I think steps 1, 2 and 3 in it are completed now. Which is why I'm creating this issue now.

I'm interested in taking over the ownership of this distribution. Additionally, I believe it makes a lot of sense to combine this proposal with me also becoming the owner of:

  • the related ArrayShift Support Modules. Simply because that module(s) seems to be related to this distribution (though I do not consider that as an absolute must, only appropriate to also consider it).
  • the related ArrayShift Theme, which is maintained by voidfiles.

I consider these 2 tasks as most critical / urgent to start working on:
1) resolve the current security issues with the existing D6 release (as mentioned on the project page).
2) work on a D7 upgrade of it.

Please let me know if it's OK to have me do so. If so, what are the remaining steps to get it completed, if any?

Thank you in advance,
Pierre

PS: I'm OK to have eaton (or anybody else) to continue to be a co-maintainer.

The distro is obviously abandoned. I've tweeted @ eaton to get his (dis)approval and I have to ask around if the deal with distros in the same way we deal with other projects (likely). If there is no response until Friday please set this back to active.

Hey there! Yes, this was a proof-of-concept that I haven't had a chance to maintain for quite some time. +1 on handing it off!

Thanks for the response. I've transferred the distro and the support module to Pierre.Vriens.

THAT was fast! Thank you both (eaton and dddave) ...

I hope that some day (soon? somewhere this year?) you'll notice what I have transformed / upgraded this distribution (and related modules) in ... e.g. by integrating some of the charting modules I'm maintaining already also.

Long story short: a Drupal based equivalent of something like Drupal Answers, and where you can find me also these days ..., e.g. to support chart(s) related questions over there also ...

Title: Offering to become the new owner/maintainer of the ArrayShift distribution » Offering to become the new owner/maintainer of ArrayShift (distribution, modules and theme)
Issue summary: View changes

I'm (temporary) reopening this issue, because I updated the issue description. I actually added the bullet there about the ArrayShift Theme.

Earlier today I've had an an email conversation with voidfiles. Here is a summary of it:

Hello "voidfiles" (sorry I don't know your "real" name ... yet),

Just to make sure you've seen it, please look at this issue about the
ArrayShift distribution:
https://www.drupal.org/node/1049212#comment-9799275

Also, I have these related questions for you:

1) what is your current involvement / interest in this distribution? If you'd
ask me: I'd love you to continue co-maintaining as you seem to have been
doing recently.

2) what about your ArrayShift "theme" (at
https://www.drupal.org/project/as_theme ), that I only today discovered? From
the screenprint on the project page I think it looks interesting. But I'm
also curious about possible D7 plans for the theme.

Look forward to hear something from you soon, ok?
Pierre Vriens

A little later I received an eMail back, this is the relevant part of it:

I don't feel the need to continue being a maintainer. If you would like to take over you are more then welcome. It's been a while since I have interacted with drupal.org though, ...

Thanks,
Alex Kessinger

Based on that, I responded with an extra eMail, of which this is the relevant part:

Hi "Alex",

thank you for replying. Not sure if I correctly translate what you replied, but I seem to understand that you're OK if I also ask for the ownership of the AS Theme ( https://www.drupal.org/project/as_theme ) to be transferred to me (and hopefully you're OK then to become a co-maintainer, eg as a kind of backup or so). If you agree with what I seem to understand, then I'd be happy to FORWARD this eMail to the people at drupal.org who handle such ownership -transfers (so that you don't have to worry/bother about that, they need to get involved anyway in that case).

...

Regards,
Pierre

The final reply I received from Alex was like so:

Yea, I am cool with that. I am not really in a position to be a maintainer though.

With that, I kindly request the ownership of the ArrayShift Theme to be changed to my userid also.

Thank you in advance,
Pierre

Done.

Merci mon ami! (How good is your French?)

Or maybe "Dank U wel" is easier to translate in German?
