I'm currently developing a crowdfunding website using Drupal.

Many modules are used, like commerce, commerce_paypal, custom_line_items, a few custom modules, etc.

Our website is for a non-profit and I'm sure many people are interested in building a full crowdfunding website with drupal.

How many hours of project time do you estimate to get a site fully operational? How many hours to maintaining a site once operational? I have a programmer that can help with the project.

I have no experience building drupal distribution.

I guess to get a full site it will take about 250-350 hours. Depending on complexity, we plan a part-time developer to maintain the website.

To be clear, we're actively developing a crowdfunding platform using drupal 7.

I looked into features-based install profiles and it's not an easy task. We started a draft for our own development but it's not ready for the general public.

On top of this, it's reasonable to commit time to provide support after releasing that install profile which I don't have at the moment.

@Tabestan, we need to find a way to join forces, because i'm doing a project like this right now. I'm recreating http://www.benfeitoria.com (a brazilian crowdfunding site with 1 year running on another plataform) on Drupal 7 and our goal was always to create a Drupal distro after a little validation, but if there are a lot of people needing a crowdfunding distro now, doesn't make sense to waste working in paralell.

What about creating a group in GDO about Crowdfunding in Drupal, so we can focus this conversation?

I m thinking to start a crowdfunding site in Algeria (lot of projects, but lot of local specificities which means we cannot just use kickstarter). A drupal solution would be great. I would be more than happy if we can share your experience and how i could help ?

Hi,

how far are you in this project?

There's a few issues we have here regarding commerce module.

At first the easy solution was to have a single commerce product per perk. For example a project can have 5 different perks ($10, $25, $50, $100 and $200). Then we just need to attach those product to the project page.

We can't use this solution because we want donors to choose the amount they want to give. For example they can choose to give $40 and will receive the perks for the $25 product.

There's several workaround to this:
- drupal commerce can create a product on the fly, this process is used by ioby.org
- modules like commerce_custom_products are interesting since the user can input a number, did not try those yet.

If you have any thoughts about this ?

No, Drupal 7. I'm using a patch version of the Amazon FPS module. I'm still in testing phase but, seems to work fine.

Update: it seems Amazon is not accepting new CF platforms at this time.

I am looking into designing a crowd funding site similar to http://www.crowdcube.com - how far is your project from completion? I am not a developer as such, mostly designer and system integrator using existing Drupal modules, but can help with interfaces and testing if needed.

All who are searching for Crowd funding solution or solution which is for You & Your Website Users. Wepay payment gateway module is Drupal Commerce module which provides desired functionality. Please have a look at the Module https://drupal.org/project/commerce_wepay

Crowdfunding functionality will be added in 7.x-1.x stable release so you'll have to wait for a month or so. Possible Use cases will be marketplaces, crowd funding, Allow your site users to get payments. You can suggest features request in Module Issue key and I shall take possible features in next releases.
