hi,
i'm working with a drupal installation i had to duplicate to a subfolder, and after doing:
- create a new database
- copy a new drupal 6 installation into htdocs/2ndwebsite
- fresh install on drupal 6 - www.mywebsite.com/2ndwebsite - same user/password for admin!
- and then import the original database to the new one
i found out that in order to use the website as admin i had to add /?q=admin instead of /admin every time i open the page, otherwise i get "page not found" (not the 404 white one, the one with my web theme), and that i can't access any page that has /content in it. what shall i do to fix this problem? i'd like to be able to enter every page just by clickin on it, not having to add ?q= everytime
Any suggestions?

problem with ?q=admin and content
Have you cleared the drupal performance cache?.
you mean "flush all caches"
you mean "flush all caches" in the admin bar? he doesn't let me do that, because the link would be http://www.website.com/2ndwebsite/admin_menu/flush-cache?destination=adm...
and i can't access any page that isn't with /admin at the beginning (and as i said, i should change it to ?q=admin)
i tried by deleting the pathauto module, but still not working...
how can i fix this?
Check your Apache
Check your Apache configuration if the mod_rewrite is enabled or not.
Check the following URL for better understanding.
http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/rewrite/
Please login to the admin and disable clean urls, using the URL ?q=admin/settings/clean-urls. If the system is working, then you can confirm the issue with Apache configuration.
Also, drupal suggests for clearing the cache before database backup or migration.
i tell what i did, i inserted
i tell what i did, i inserted #$conf['clean_url'] = 0; in settings.php, and then every page worked fine with using automatically ?q= to open.
then i made a "flush all the caches", and went to ?q=admin/settings/clean-urls, uncommented the line in settings.php, activate the clean urls and saved. and again the page without ?q= doesn't work,... how can i fix this to have clean urls working?
Have you checked your apache
Have you checked your apache settings with mod_rewrite? Please go through the following URL for more clarification.

hi, i've already been
hi, i've already been searching in that node, but couldn't find a solution. Actually, since i have a website on htdocs in apache (for windows), the main one, and another one in htdocs/2ndwebsite, i get clean URLs without any problem on the main website, but can't get them to work on the new one i just copied. The only way i can browse pages in it have been adding the line to settings.php
but then i'm stuck and don't know how to activate clean URLs (since i added that line, if i browse to the page of clean URLs, the options "activate" and "desactivate" are now greyed out), can anybody help me with this?
I am not much familiar with
I am not much familiar with windows apache configuration.
If you are running both website from the same apache webserver, may be the following is added specifically for your first website like.
Options FollowSymLinks
AllowOverride All
RewriteEngine On
Add the same for your second website and restart apache
If the above is not working, then please send your apache module list in httpd.conf with the "" config block.
this is my httpd.conf file:##
this is my httpd.conf file:
so it already looks like i have those settings you said... maybe the problem could be with the two .htaccess files, this is the first one from the main website (in htdocs)
and this is the .htaccess file from the drupal installation in htdocs/2ndwebsite:
which could me the solution to my problem? it's really freaking me out ;)
Please remove the starting #
Please remove the starting # tag from httpd.conf file for the following line.
#LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so
Also in the "
<Directory>
" pointing to your apache root folder ( Assume that "<Directory C:/Apache2.2/htdocs>
"), update the lineAllowOverride None to AllowOverride All
Then restart your apache and try. I hope this will resolve your issue.
hi, i tried your solution,
hi, i tried your solution, but didn't manage to solve my problem, actually i had to delete those changings, because otherwise i couldn't navigate the website (i was getting 404 blank page all the time)....
