To be able to use the Media module with Brightcove videos, you'll need to do the following:

  1. Enable the modules
For Media integration, the Media module and it's dependencies are needed (naturally). You have to enable Media Internet Sources (media_internet) to make Brightcove's Media integration work.
  2. Set up the content type
This is a really easy step. Make a content type (or modify an existing one) at Administration > Structure > Content types; add a new field at Manage fields. Use the Multimedia asset for field type and the Media selector for the widget type.
  3. Create some content for testing
Upload a video to Brightcove - it's recommended to periodically test the display settings in the next steps. File displays can produce non-trivial results sometimes ;)
  4. Choose a file view mode
We need to set up the display, so visit your content type, Manage display and choose the Media format in the Format column for the field that you've created. Now choose a file view mode: click on the settings button on the right and choose an appropriate view mode from the list. Probably the options won't make a lot of sense, so try to choose one which describes the view mode for your video field; Original is maybe the best one.
Check the status of the test content that you've uploaded. Don't get confused if the video doesn't show up for some reason - we will make it working in the next step.
  5. Set up the file display
After choosing the file view mode, you should set up the chosen file view mode. Navigate to Administration > Structure > File types [in Media] and click on Manage file display of the Video row. Choose the display mode that you selected in the previous step and enable the Brightcove Video display for that. Save the configuration, check the result and the process is complete.
