My most recent Content Type additions are not showing up under Add Content. I found messages about an error along these lines related to the navigation menu, but I don't think the scenario applies here. I have been going through the modules and disabling them with no luck. Permissions look to be set correctly. Does anyone have any ideas?

Can you see these menu items when you are logged in as UID=1? If so, double-check your permissions and make sure that your normal user role has access to the create/edit content-type items.

Can you paste the error log here?

Thanks both for your help. I think this may have been a noob question. Even though I had the menu link checked in the content type, I still had to configure the menu to show the type. I don't remember having to do this the other times I added content types, but it may just be that I don't remember. Anyway, thanks again for your help.

my problem in drupal 7 is article content type and page content type not showing in add content. after check permision and role is checked in content type, but in add content not showing.

any solution for this

I'm not a drupal developer so I can't say what would cause this to happen but here it goes.

I made several attempts to create custom content types, and whenever I tried to add content, my newly created content type was never displayed. After about an hour trying to fix this (triple check permissions, disable my latest modules, etc, etc) I found that it was my settings within my 'Navigation' block.

(Administration -> Structure -> Blocks -> 'Navigation')

I configured the 'Navigation' block under 'Content types' so that my newly created content type was enabled and then saved the configuration. Viola! Now I could create content!

The thing that strikes me odd, is that I didn't even have the 'Navigation' block enabled. So now, whenever I create a custom content type, I have to go to this block and enable it. Something went wrong somewhere.

Hope this helps.

I was having the same problem. I did not have the Navigation block enabled too, but after configuring
structure>menus>navigation>listlinks (I am using the Bartik theme), I enabled my missing article and basic page and, 'yay', when I go to content/add content I can now create an article and basic page

Your advice certainly did the trick for me.

Thanks a million.

Same thing happened to me and this is indeed the solution to the problem! God, I'm glad I finally found it. But I also had another problem occuring at the same time... All the shortcuts on my shortcut toolbar dissapeared, but when I clicked "Edit shortcuts", they were all still there. Really strange...

The same for me:
My 'lost' content type was in Menus > Navigation
And, selecting the "parent" of the menu link, I moved it with the rest of content types in Menus > User menu > Add content

Yup this was my situation as well. Thanks.

did exactly as written- and thank god it worked - what drives me crazy that i didnot disabled it before....

wow!!! I was driving me crazy trying to find the answer.... thanks

fidjetman's fix worked for me.

This was an annoying one because there is no indication that the Navigation Menu actually drives the list on the /node/add/ page.

I went around in circles for ages trying to figure out whether it was Features or something weirder causing the problems.

fidjetman - thanks for this solution. Was about to start the awful process of turning off/on modules looking for a conflict.

I found that when the machine-readable name contained an underscore the new content type would not display in Create Content. Remove the underscore and the content type displayed correctly.

Shaughn’s picture

This one solved my problem!

I had made other content types successful, but my newest one wouldn't show up. Turns out it was the underscore in the machine name.

I did have to reapply permissions to create/edit the content type though.

Thanks for the help!

Good found!!!

There must be some other issues in play for you because I regularly use underscores in content type machine names with no problems.

Also, drupal core even uses an underscore in the basic_page content type and that is fine too.

In my case menu item is misplaced some how. I put it under add content link :D admin/structure/menu/manage/navigation

acorso’s picture

The issue on our build was that the content type was being inserted into an incorrect location within the navigation menu, as a primary menu item rather than as a child of the 'Add content' menu item.

ssbtech’s picture

I'm a little confused here.

I too am now having this issue where newly created content types aren't available when creating new content.

The menu settings in the content type definition controls what menu content created using that content type is displayed under on the public facing site. I don't see where I can change what menu the content type shows up under for those who are logged in to create content.

EDIT:
Forgot to add, I had the Workbench module installed but I disabled it. When I re-enable it, the new content types show up under the Workbench controls to add content, but not the core add content page. Interestingly, it only shows on the drop-down menu (admin_menu), not the page of content types to add.

Go to reports > Recent log messages, and check for errors in menu routing table.

Maybe a duplicate url existed.

That was my case, 2 views using the same path.

What version of Drupal are you using?

What shows up in the:

{site}/admin/content

list?

What is the raw URL of the new node?
What is the URL alias of the new node, if any?
