I've not had time to do much testing, yet, with setting up a Drupal 7 site, but for one of the sites I've had for quite some time, and would really like to move to Drupal 7, it is currently on Drupal 6, and I use the audio module heavily for audio files.
What I'd like to be able to do (if at all possible) is to keep all the current data that I have already built up, and of course the same files, and merge that to something that'll be getting continued support, such as MediaFront or another option. I think I saw some information about simply using the filefield module and CCK to take care of all the audio module pieces, but I don't know all I need to know for that.
Has anyone else gone through such a transition so far, or can anyone offer any suggestions? I'm totally fine with creating my own fields, as what I had with the audio module. I'd like to be able to import the current data for "download count" and "play count", that sort of thing, as well as the title, artist, etc.. well, subjects and such that I added were via taxonomy... so really, all I need from the audio module, field-wise are:
- Play Count
- Download Count
- Artist/Author (would rather create my own field anywya, just import the data)
- Title
- Play length - what's the audio length of the file
- File Size
- I'd like to grab other id3 data from it as well, possibly, if I'm going to do any of that work anyway.
And ideally, I suppose I'd like to keep with the same audio player we've been using so far, or be able to use different flv players. That's one thing where I'm not so sure about the MediaFront module anyway...
Regarding moving the data, I'm sure I can take care of that on the back end once I get the new site's fields created, just building some SQL scripts where necessary to transfer the data.
Any thoughts, references, suggestions greatly appreciated.

I'm in the same boat. Loved
I'm in the same boat. Loved the Audio module (and associated others) in D6 and I'd dearly like to use it in D7. It worked so well. Is there an 'I don't need to be an expert'- equivalent for D7?
playing from an URL stream or an m3u url...
how about using a text field of a url, that renders a player... any thoughts there?
