SimpleTest using copy of the exsisting instance

I am planing to use simple test. I am surprised to learn that each test runs in new instance, our site is complex, huge amount of taxonomy terms, modules, configurations etc..

So to recreate this is a big task.

Is there a way to copy existing instance, with all data and configurations in to this new created test instance, this would save as lots of coding?
