omg, i have put so many hours into trying to get a picture gallery to work. I can't even get photos just on my photos page as a thumbnail. PLEASE HELP! I've tried image gallery, acidfree albums, flash_gallery. I prefer any one of them- just something!!! Where do i start!

I feel your pain. Provided you don't want to be able to easily navigate your picture galleries, the image + image assist module will allow you to put pictures on your webpage and create picture galleries. You need to enable inline images in filtered html mode in order to get things to happen. Without that, you won't see any images. However, if you want a "next" and "previous" link, prepare to suffer further. I did not have much luck with acidfree, although that allows for next and previous. I haven't tried flash_gallery.

In all cases, documentation is horrible or non-existent.

So, what do I recommend? Gallery 2. Installing Gallery 2 is reasonably straight forward, although there are a few unusual steps. You need to install the Gallery 2 integration module and one other really poorly documented module (whose name I cannot remember) in order to get images inserted easily in pages.

Drupal's image handling is pretty awful. There's no getting around that right now and I would be surprised if it improved markedly before Drupal 7.
