I am looking ahead to translate core files using windows PO edit. I have downloaded the templates, went through the handbook and readme of templates.
I opened one of the .pot template and started translating. Just would like to confirm that only after the completing the translation, i should run the extractor.php ?
please let me know if my understanding is correct
thanks

NO!
Extractor.php is used to extract printed sentences
from modules to create a .pot file. (check here)
If you have a .pot file you can use it as is without using extractor.php.
Simply copy the .pot file into a languge.po file.
(example: it.po for Italian)
