1. General questions

1.1 What do you mean by "country" on Drupal.org?

The front page of Drupal.org provides a statistic with the number of "countries" where the Drupal community is from. This number is higher than various official lists of countries, such as the list of sovereign states on Wikipedia. The Drupal community is made up of people from all over the world, including some places that are not officially recognized as countries. However, we support everyone's right to identify themselves in their own way, and provide some additional choices in our "country" selector to accommodate members of our community that live in disputed territories.

To request adding another country to the list, search for an existing issue in the Drupal.org webmasters issue queue, and if none exists, create a new issue about it.

1.2 When will Drupal.org upgrade to Drupal 8?

We are focusing on operational excellence and improving on D7 for awhile. We'll come back planning our D8 upgrade when it is closer to launch.

2. Questions about projects

2.1 Where are per-project issue e-mail notification settings?

All of them were removed during migration for various reasons. Specifically:

  • Monthly reminder email to users removed
  • Per-project ‘Issues e-mail address’ removed. If you want to keep receiving updates about all issues in the queue, subscribe yourself as your user account.
  • Weekly critical issues report removed.

2.2 How can I enable automated testing for my project?

You can enable it on the "Automated Testing" tab on your project page.

I lost my images. I used to have screenshots on my project page and now they are gone.

Drupal 6 version of Drupal.org used to have image node type. This node type was not ported to Drupal 7, all other content types now have image fields for proper image uploads. Old images still exist on the site, they are just not connected to any content type.

If you were using image node type previously, you can find your images in this list and re-upload them properly to your project or issue page.

3. Questions about issues

3.1 What are those files at the bottom of issue summary?

This is an automatically generated table of file attachments for an issue. By default it shows five latest uploaded files. When editing an issue summary, files can be hidden (or re-displayed) to keep the list showing only the up-to-date relevant files.

3.2 I didn’t post any comment, but there is a new comment by me after I edited an issue! What’s going on?

Each time you edit an issue, a comment will be generated automatically, to let others know what changes you made. You can add a text explanation to this comment by filling “Comment” field when editing an issue.

3.3 There are strange comment numbers, like 10.1, what is that?

On Drupal 7 when you edit an issue (its metadata, summary, uploaded files) a comment is generated automatically. During migration we had to generate comments for all previous issue changes, and we needed to inject them in correct place in the comment stream. Changing comments IDs for all comments is crazy, so we had to create these additional IDs.

3.4 What are those parent and related issues?

This is a new feature of the issue page. You can now reference issues to each other. We can add a meta issue as parent issue to one of its sub-tasks. For example, #1830588: [META] remove drupal_set_title() and drupal_get_title() is parent of #2102441: Remove drupal_set_title in config module controllers

In the same way, follow up issues or issues which depend on other issues can be marked as related. For example #1930226: Update integer/boolean values with quotes in configuration files. and #1945246: Can Symfony .yml exporter export integer/boolean values *without* quotes in configuration files? are related to #1653026: [META] Use properly typed values in module configuration.

3.5 What are the “Automatically generated revision for Drupal 7 upgrade” revisions on issues?

Project Issue module’s Drupal 7 upgrade changed how issues get updated. Previously, meta-data, like version and priority, was updated with each comment, and stored in custom tables. Now, these are fields on the issue node type; with revisions always logged to keep track of changes. These new revisions were created for each comment to store historical changes.

They appear out of order because Drupal orders the revisions page by revision ID. We created new revisions, dated to match their comment's timestamp.

4. Questions about Terms of Service and Privacy Policy

4.1 How can I point out a mistake or suggest changes to Terms of Service or Privacy Policy?

Firstly, check this document to see if your suggestion is already on the list for the next revision.

If it isn't, then send an email to help@drupal.org with your suggestions or comments. The Drupal Association staff will review suggestions once every few months and update Terms of Service or Privacy Policy if needed.
