Now that Drupal 7 has been officially released for use , it will certainly be a good idea for every Drupal users to learn how it functions. For experienced users this may mostly be just about learning where things have been newly placed; but for the new user it will be a new learning experience altogether; plugging into a new paradigm - an undertaking which can be made easier with this very useful book . Drupal 7 , written by David Mercer as an update of his previous books. Although the title of the book appears to say it all about the content, let’s take a brief trip through the contents.

If you are an old hand with Drupal you may want to give Chapter 1 a miss. This chapter introduces you to the world of Drupal and then deals with how to get everything you need up and running. After looking over some of the more common installation problems, the chapter presents a brief tour of Drupal in order to give you an idea of what to expect in the coming chapters.

Predictions for 2011

We have a tradition since 2003 that at the beginning of each year we look back on what has happened and make some predictions for the year ahead. Lets start with looking at the past to see what people thought about 2010 in this posting .

One of the best things that happened to Drupal in 2010 was the fact that the redesign went live, as predicted. Thanks to the Drupal Association and the hard work of many volunteers. On the other hand, one of the things nobody thought would happen... didn't happen. Drupal 7 was not released in 2010, yet 1,000 people (and more) worked hard to make D7 the best release ever shipping with a stable release in the first days of 2011. WordPress won the Packt Publishing CMS award with—after a tie—one vote more than Drupal. This shows that WP has become a complete CMS, as was also predicted, despite their own words that We don't want WordPress to develop a reputation.

New module for upload large files - advupload. Need testers :)

Hello!
I've just created own module to upload large files - e.g. videos, archives to drupal sites.
advupload

It's more custmizable then already existig modules, have ready security checks (via token exchange between JSON calls and pages).
Interesting in testing and feature requests :)

Reason to create module was - all other are too long in beta state or cannot chunk upload.
Hope in 2 weeks there will be port to D7
