Pro-Bono Drupal Programmers needed for UK Charity project

Hello to all Drupal programmers!

Help and expertise is sought for an exciting web programming project with a real positive impact on efforts to further International Development.

Engineers Without Borders UK is a student-run charity that empowers students to apply their skills to solving the problems of the developing world. One of the fastest growing organizations in the UK, EWB-UK's network of 14 branches already encompasses a membership of several thousand students across the country, and this figure increases year on year.

A key obstacle to further expansion of UK-based and international operations is the lack of an adequate IT infrastructure, highlighted at this year's Annual General Meeting. An initiative has been undertaken to address this with ambitious plans for a completely new online information resource, incorporating a Content Management System, email management and more.

Current specification is not fixed but looks to deploy a customized installation of Drupal. A test installation has already been deployed on a development server and work is slowly progressing.

Working on this project is strictly voluntary but will be fully credited and employment references can be provided. Those heavily involved may also be invited to the head office at the University of Cambridge for a multi-day intensive brainstorming and development session.

See http://www.ewb-uk.org/it/index.php for more information.

New Module - SMS Text Messaging Gateway

I would like to announce the first release of the SMS Gateway module. This module adds SMS (Short Message Service) texting capabilities to Drupal, so allowing the sending of messages to and the reception of messages from mobile phones.

The current module provides settings, self-test and log pages, but in itself it provides no user-interface to send or receive messages, just adds functions that can be called to allow other modules to send messages. It also provides a hook method that allows modules to be informed of received messages.

It currently supports one service provider (Clickatell) and one protocol (HTTP). However it aims to allow other messaging service providers to be integrated easily via a pluggable service provider API. Those who already have, or would like to develop, support for other messaging providers or protocols are encouraged to contribute.

Finally, I am new to PHP/Drupal development and would welcome a security review of the module from anyone who is willing to spare the time - I am particularly concerned about the validation of URL parameters and posted variables.

The module can be downloaded from the Drupal.org project page and additional information can be found at my history and updates page

I have money for this project since I have a few funders that believe in my project, now what I lack is the technical capability, so this I will acquire by asking my fellow drupal community members. hopefully someone here can help.

I am looking at setting up a particularly complicated drupal installation and preferably in french, this is for my MASTERS thesis, which I want to conclude by doing the practical part using drupal.
