Drupal.org upgrade and features

In October 2005, we conducted a Drupal.org user survey to get feedback on the Drupal.org website and to prioritize the work we should put into improving it. We have since been working on the improvements that the respondents felt were most important. Today, we are pleased to roll out a number of these improvements. At the same time, we've upgraded Drupal.org to the latest CVS version.

So, in good Drupal tradition, we the developers get to eat our own dog food again, and you the users get to see and test these latest changes. Please let us know if you find anything out of whack - this has been a significant upgrade and we are still fine-tuning the site.

New Drupal book by Hagen Graf has been published

I'm happy to announce the probably first German book about Drupal, written by Hagen Graf: "Drupal: Community-Websites entwickeln und verwalten mit dem Open Source-CMS". The book covers the Drupal 4.7-beta series. It has been published a few days ago and should be available from your favorite bookstore by now, as well as from Pearson Education/Addison-Wesley or Amazon.

Notice: Drupal.org upgrade (completed)

Edit: update complete. Please note that with the new search it will take a several hours to reindex and update search. Please file an issue with the infrastructure project if you notice anything odd.

Search will be re-enabled when indexing is complete and check out the new project modules browse by category option.

More information will be posted once search indexes are updated

Thanks go to to a lot of folks over the past few months who participated in the bug fixes/reporting and testing.

Drupal.org will be operating in 'read-only' mode while undergoing update.

All posting will be disabled while Drupal.org database undergoes updating to the CVS codebase. While this is a minor inconvenience I think everyone will agree that this is a much anticipated and hoped for minor inconvenience.

Estimated time of one hour. Start 20:00 UTC and end 21:00 UTC
