One of the things I really like about drupal is how easy it is to add a perm function and add security for each module. Unfortunately, the focus of drupal development has been toward's public sites. As a result many of teh perm_hook's for modules I download don't contain the access xxxx setting. Good examples are gallery, forum (from core) and event.
Hi ppl, i have been an ardent fan of Drupal till now, so much so that i got some custom modules developed for my sites since i was planning to stick with Drupal for all my development needs. But i am facing problems when it comes to resources. I had to shift from my earlier hosting company because they said, my sites were too much of a load for the servers and were driving upto 95% of the CPU at all times. I've shifted to site5 servers as i saw somebody recommending them over here. But here also i'm facing similar problems.
As many of you may well know, The Onion runs on Drupal. Well, The Weekly Standards did a review of The Onions site, from a web standards and usability perspective.
Is there an 'advanced search' somewhere on the Drupal site ?
I don't know exactly what are the capabilities of the main search function (whole phrases, exclusions, booleans, etc). Is it explained somewhere ?
But what I really miss is a time function (selection or sort). Due to the rapid evolution of Drupal, the content becomes quickly obsolete (for users seeking help at least).
I've recently set up a 4.7b4 site, just to discover that the e-mail notification modules Subscription and Notify are not yet upgraded.
Why this feature is not in core is beyond my understanding. How can a CMS live without e-mail notifications? RSS is nice, but that isn't enough, and can't replace e-mail when content is only accessible to certain roles and a login is required.
So, how do you do it? How can you have a community site -- public or private -- that doesn't do basic e-mail updates out of the box?
