I've been thinking: maybe it's worth having a "display name" and well as a user name for authors, so that
#1 When you import comments from MT, they could be anonmous but display any user name
and
#2 large huge sites could support unique usernames while displaying people's proper names... i.e. naughtymonkey23 displays as John Smith.
Huge usability problem that has been discussed in other forums by *many* folks, but drupal's tendency to take you somewhere else and drop you there when you are done is maddening.
Example: I'm in design forum. I make a new topic. I finish. now I'm in "create content" and to go back to peaceably reading forums I have ot re-navigate down the loooooooooong tree.
I'm fine-tuning a drupal install, 4.4.1, and I'm getting confused about moderation. On an add node page, if I uncheck all options, including moderation, I submit the node, then go to admin > node, the node in question appears after filtering nodes by "nodes waiting for approval." Then, if I submit a node by checking only the moderation option, the node is in the approval queue all the same. What is this moderation thing after all?
This is a very weird error that I can't pinpoint. When I use my copy and paste any text into my Drupal content field that uses quotes or apostrophes or even copying from Word into Drupal I get scrambled quotes, like this:
