Adding Nodes is Slow - Need Help

Adding nodes is getting rather slow...

I noticed that this query:

SELECT COUNT(*) FROM node n WHERE n.promote = 1 AND n.status = 1;

Is running a lot.

When I run it from the shell it takes 2 minutes to execute and returns 1.4 million as the count.

If you've got any ideas why this query would take so long I'd love to hear it.

G-Man

"Unable to determine your web server type and version"

in my status report, the last line says the following:

"Web server Apache
Unable to determine your web server type and version. Drupal might not work properly. "

what do i need to do? thank you.

Question about performance on new Site

Hi:

We are moving from a very tweaked Movable Type 2.61 to Drupal. (I know, I know ... Dinosaurs! :P ).

Our site actually has more than 21.000 entries and more than 700.000 coments. We find a solution to move to Drupal (in fact, we are in the process now). Our site has a lot of traffic (70.000 visits/day and serve over 200/250.000 pages/day - roughly-).

We are working over a 2 (equal) servers (one for http, other for Databases) with this configuration:
- FreeBSD Operating System
- Intel Celeron 2.8GHz CPU
- 2GB DDR3200 SDRAM

Drupal site on Shared Hosts

hi

I am running a Drupal site on Dreamhost shared hosts. Currently, the usage is small. However, I am planning to go on marketing campaign and I am wondering if anyone know the minimum/maximum number of hits that a Drupal installation can support before it needs to be moved to a Dedicated host.

On a related question, How many servers do I need if I expect 1 million hits per day?

Thanks
