I'm looking to build a web server that will serve out just Drupal for a few hundred (if not thousand) users. They won't all be on at the same time, but in theory there will be that many accounts on there. What kind of server specs should I be looking for in regards to the web server box as well as the MySQL server box?
Hi,
I am in need of your help. Can somebody please help me out with the taxonomy. I have created category and sub-category. And I want to submit contents to category but not in the sub-category but I am not able to do so as I am only getting the option of submitting the content in sub-category but not in the main category. Please let me give you an example:
I installed drupal on my server. In order drupal to react with a forum i have to install one or it is done automatically, cause i cant see any forums. If i have to install it do it have to ...root/forum? Does it work with any forum (eg smf, phpbb etc)?
I think everyone should be brought to the attention of this issue raised by Wesley Tanaka and start producing optimised modules.
I have tried optimising my current modules and it takes a terribly long time with maybe unexpected results as I do not know how the modules work. Module authors themselves are in the best position to implement the optimisation as they know what can and cannot be excluded from their main code.
Almost all modules are bloated to the extent that users on shared hosts cannot enable every single module since the memory limit imposed has been exceeded. Basically, just removing admin code from the main module file alone can reduce the memory footprint by at least 2% which adds up to a lot if the module is extremely large such as the following:
