Deleting single user takes AGES to complete

When I delete a user from my 4.7 site (with a few thousand users), it seems almost always to take a couple of *minutes* to complete the process. This effects the loading of some other contect on the site while its doing it, I think because it locks the DB? So visitors can't comment etc while I'm deleting a user... and they have no idea why.

Its not ideal, as I have to delete quite a few spammer users etc regularly.

How do I stop directory listings in browser?

I have a drupal site up and running that I set up for a friend, and if you add "files/images/temp/" to the end of the base url you can see the listing of all items in that directory. Is there any relatively easy way to disable this?

Hey everyone, quick question...

I am making a query to the database and am trying to store it into a $node object. When I try to specifically echo out $node->field_id it ouputs blank as if nothing is there. I have checked my sql and it infact does grab the information which i tested in phpmyadmin. So field_id IS present, i just dont think im storing it correctly. If i echo out $node->nid, I do get the proper output for nid's.

Is this the proper way to load the query? or does this make no sense whatsoever??
