Mysql 5.x performance problems after upgrade of drupal version and hardware

We are running community web site with medium of 2000-3000 visits per day, according to Google Analytics.
We used dedicated server AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ with 2GB RAM

mysql Ver 14.7 Distrib 4.1.11, for pc-linux-gnu (x86_64)
Here is my.cnf file

We upgraded to: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+, With 8 GB DDR2 RAM

mysql Ver 14.12 Distrib 5.0.32, for pc-linux-gnu (x86_64) using readline 5.2
Here is my.cnf file
We upgraded Drupal from 4.7.x to 5.x.

The problem:
On the old server we didn’t experienced any problems with mysql, instead on the new machine.

After this upgrade we have serious MySQL overload
On the new machine performing top via SSH I see:

drupal based website with forum

as a drupal newbie i am looking into using this cms for a discussion group website. they are interested in documenting their discussion progress through this website, but especially integrating an on-line discussion forum which offers at least these functions:
* easy to use for registered members
* email with respective contribution to all - or selected - members of the group
* archival function

as the group would also like to publish scientific papers, i would need a referencing function (footnotes).

would drupal offer any of these requirements ?

Profiles with user photo

Hello,

I am building a community with Drupal 4.7.11
I have already created a complete profile using the profile module, but I need each user to upload a personal photo in their profiles, so other users can see profiles displaying a user photo (not as a link).
What would be the best way of achieving this? (I am not a programmer)
I know there are modules for building image galleries and uploading photos in content, but I dont know how to include a photo in the user profile.

Thanks

the1secondfilm.com

Hi,

I wanted to share our Drupal site for The 1 Second Film, and get any feedback:
www.the1secondfilm.com

Our project is a non-profit collaborative arts project, currently run on Drupal 4.7. Our site allows folks to become a movie producer by making a small donation. Members receive profiles and can connect with one another, keep blogs, etc. and can also upload content to be in a making of documentary. A goal of our project is to create a community built around collaborative art. Any profits from our finished film will be donated to charity, and the online community will continue to grow with future collaborative projects being planned through our non-profit, The Collaboration Foundation.

The site was built by Jason Salter and designed by a friend and myself. The site has been a big improvement over our earlier site, which was static and became impossible to maintain as our project grew.

Basic site flow:

    1. Users registers and become 'Aspiring-Producers'
    2. Users donate $1 or more and get promoted to a "Producer" user role.
    3. Producers receive profiles they can edit and also get listed in our producer credits (in order of amount donated and then alphabetically)

We are preparing to upgrade to Drupal 5.0 and increase usability and community features as resources allow.

Thanks for taking a look :)

To add events to categorized different calendars by flexinode

I am testing upgrading from Drupal-4.6.6 to Drupal-4.7.11.

In 4.6.6 there are in categories (taxonomy) two different calendars, both diveded to subcalendars (taxonomy term)

Might describe that one calendar is intended to make reservations, like hire many houses, each house having own calendar (event/term/10, event/term/11 etc.)

The second calendar is like for people who like running (event/term/1) or people who like paddling (event/term/2 and so on. When adding a new event and to choose a calendar they are in flexinode in two drop down menus.
