Module development and code questions

I am having difficulty getting this views_filterblock to work. I am a noob and am probably just missing something here. Here's what i've done:

1. enabled the module
2. set the number of blocks needed to "1".
3. created a block in views with exposed filters (on a page view)
4. configured the "Views Filter Block" in admin/build/block to show only in the right sidebar on the page in which i built my block view.

Now when i go to the views page, i see only a horizontal view of my exposed filters in the content area of my page.

I have the need to continually promote 6 items of a custom node type to the front page. Every 15 minutes a cron job will select another 6 items to promote. The selected items are based on the community based on the on-going results of the voting community. An item could appear multiple times if its popularity persists, but it should not exceed a certain limit which could be based on age (i.e. an expiry like a date stamp of when the item was first promoted) and/or the number of times the item has appeared (page loads, etc.)

I am trying to add advertisement code on my site. I need help with the following:

a) Where do I need to add the code so that appropriate ads show up? I do have the HTML code that the advertisers provided me. However, I do not know which file need to be modified.

b) I want the advertisements to appear throughout my site. How do I accomplish that easily?

Note: I am using Google Adsense module as well. These questions are in addition to having more ads on my site in addition to Google Adsense.

Hello Everyone,
I was wondering how would I extend the review module so that there ar multiple review ratings i.e
a 1 to 10 rating for readability
a 1 to 10 rating for orginality
a 1 to 10 rating for usefullness etc.
and followed by a text box for the user to write down his/her comments.

So basically provide more review fields (1 to 10) and just one text box.
And then the average vote is an average of (the average of readability, orignality and usefullness for each review).

I am creating several different categories in the "User Account" such as "Personal Information" and "Preferences"

I would like some of the forms that are presently in "Account Settings" to appear in "Preferences" instead.
One of the Forms I want to move is the "Picture" form including the Avatar Selection module

Any ideas how I would go about this?

is there a way for intercept with a function or a hook when user login with filling in the form or login with presetted cookie?
