Hi friends,
I am comparing several community-softwares, and Drupal seems very mature and well thought-through to me. I am aware of some of it's stronger and weaker sides, and I believe that Drupal would fit my needs.
This is my problem/ question/ plea for help:
There are about 1500 forum messages on my site, which I do have to transfer to the new site, as they are the essence of the site. Yet they are stored in flat files.
The structure is this:
a) For each board there is one txt-file. In each of it's lines you find ID, Username, Header and Date of one forum post.
b) For each forum post there is a text file, named by the ID of the post, containing the other information, and the comments, one per line.
And furthermore there a thousands of users. Similarly a list of them is stored in one txt file and the infos are kept in thousands other. They aould have to stay connected to their posts in the forum.
Has anyone ever written a similar code? Would any kind soul in this world be willing to adapt any of the import scripts for me?
And here comes the deal: You help me converting my site, I invite you and your partner to a weekend in Cologne (Germany) at my place, make breakfast, show you around town and visit the famous Cologne Cathedral (http://www.koelner-dom.de/) with you. (Okay, you have to pay the flight yourself, but there are very affordable tickets at http://www.germanwings.de/).
