LOGMIX is offering free drupal hosting service. You can post a content driven community idea on LOGMIX and request your friends to vote for your idea. Once it gets enough number of votes, we will setup and host a free drupal based sub domain site. We will customize it to your specification. Initially we are focussing on digg like sites and collaborative blogs. But we will accomodate any reasonable request for a content driven community idea - it is free. Suggest how we can improve the site and business model.

First, i would like to give a BIG thanks to the Drupal community who helped me in my journey, the late hours, sometimes not even eating, and my girlfriend even broke up with me for a while, cuz i ignored her calls!! We are back, now. Why? Because i was trying to understand how Drupal works... and especially the Views module! I think it paid off. I am still a newbie, though.

This is my first real Drupal site (http://www.pittsfordcc.org). This is for my church. I am using Drupal 4.7. I backported Garland to 4.7 at the end of last year. That way, when I move to 5, there will be no perceived changes. I am not a graphical designer, so I appreciate the efforts of the Garland creators. I am using the category module, hidden containers and all to manage the hierachy so that breadcrumbs and menus match. The learning curve on that module was a bit steep, but now I am very comfortable with it. It is very powerful if you have a complicated hierarchy.

Pathauto is used to create human friendly URLs. I used ContentO to create new content types so that I can restrict what types of nodes are created by different classes of users, hence where they appear on the site. The different types were tagged as different categories. Other types were used as containers. I use insert_views a lot for generating page content as opposed to PHP code. I am concerned now that I "hear" CCK is being built into the core, so I am not sure what I will do with my ContentO node types.

I am working on developing a project based on the business structure of www.traidmark.org and hope that it may be possible to launch a competition within this community?

The aim in one sentence is...
"Develop new technology into a collaborative social and educational hub with a business model that is ethically run."

This can be developed however you want. (e.g. one person may want to create a community site linked to mobile phones...)
