Myplay.com is a redesign and re-branding of Sony's Musicbox site which showcases SonyBMG's artists, providing free access to their videos, music and photos. Users can create lists of their favorite artists as well as review their music and embed widgets of their favorite artist's content into other sites. Sony Musicbox was originally implemented by the Lullabots who provided the base framework for this redesign. Thanks to their diligence and teaching as well as excellent tools provided by Earl Miles (Panels 2, Views and Nodequeue), three people (Suzi Arnold, Jerad Bitner and David Burns) were able to accomplish this task in just over a month.
This case study documents how the site is put together, and provides implementation details on how we've combined numerous important contributed modules to build a "next generation" Drupal site.
Hey guys, just to show you how powerful Drupal is! In 8 weeks I was able to put together this site and upload all the content you see. There are still a few bugs that need ironing out, but the open source community must be congratulated on a job well done. Drupal is a masterpiece. Tell me what you think about it.
(Washington, 01 April 2008). In a move that even surprised senior analysts, former Vice President Al Gore and California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger have announced their joint candidacy for the 2008 US Presidential Election earlier today (watch the Video Broadcast). Around 400 people hastily gathered in front of the new Gore/Schwarzenegger campaign headquarters in Washington DC, where the team held its first press conference to outline major positions and explain the recent constitutional amendment that allows Austrian-born Schwarzenegger to run for president. Among the first to break the news, the Drupal-powered US Election 2008 Web Monitor has published detailed profiles of Al Gore and Arnold Schwarzenegger including current media statistics.
The IB Community Theme web site started development as 2007 drew to an end. It's plan is to allow all International Baccalaureate stakeholders (students, teachers, staff, parents etc) to discuss one community theme, the current one being sharing our humanity.
The web site went live early 2008 with great success. CCK and Views were used a lot along with their contributing modules allowing users to post a variety of content to their posts. Panels also was a great addition to the site allowing us to display many internal feeds within one page. Many of these could of been done with View and Blocks, but Panels made life so much easier.
The theme
The custom theme which was developed by Hoffi (http://www.hoffi.com) allowed us to develop some of the custom features. If time allowed we would have liked to make some of these into modules and submit them back to the Drupal Community but this may have to wait until the next IB project (due Summer 2008).
