Post installation

When the Who's Online block says "36 guests online" does it mean, some 36 users accessed page within the last 5 or so minutes. Cause I see around 20-40 guests online 24 hours of the day. Are there any pointers on more information on how the block calculates the number of guest, if this topic was already discussed before? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Is there a way to automatically turn off comments for older posts?
I could do this probably with a simple SQL statement, but it would be nice to have a automatic process which disables comments for old stuff.

I've upgraded my Drupal from 4.3.1 to 4.4.1 with modifications to the MySQL database as instructed. All pages show up fine and while the new theme structure will take a bit of learning everything seemes to be ok.

Hi, I wanted ya'll to know that the code that Drupal uses to send email via SMTP is not standards compliant. Roughly 90% of internet servers will NOT accept email from Drupal software. Does anyone have a temporary fix until it's recoded in the base? Thanks.
