Post installation

Hi gang,

I want to be able to have it so that my navigation block, which is set to custom, is automagically selected as on when a new user is created. I want the module to be off when people are not logged in.

Does anyone have the common.inc and node.module files patched for use with the locale.module and 4.4.2? My patch tool (Eclipse) wasn't smart enough to do it automatically, and though there are only 4 changes altogether, if someone already has it set up and can share it with me, that would be really nice.

I have a new Drupal site up and running, but I have a problem with setting up the "files" directory. I've gone ahead and made a directory called "stuff" in my site's root and set the permissions so that it's writable by Drupal... but Drupal insists that the directory is either not there or not writeable. The Drupal manual doesn't seem to be too helpful on the topic, and searches of Drupal.org have turned up empty handed. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I've installed and config'd drupal about three times now and still the search module appears to need some config I'm not aware of. I create a story, then search for words in that story and get no results. But it can find user names. Any steps to get it going would be appreciated.

emailpage.module is in the modules directory and enabled under blocks but does not show up listed as a module, and does not show up as a link for any nodes. Any suggestions on getting it to work?

where would be a good place to put metatages after a basic default install?
