Post installation

Dear GURUs,

My web hosting company will not allow me to create a crontab. How can I get around this?

How can I automatically have this URL called?
http://www.mydomain.com/cron.php

Any ideas? I don't know how to do CGI scripting. Can someone share a sript with me?

I got an error at the bottum of my page. I think this is only the case when resuming accessing my site after a period of in-activity. Drupal seems to log-out users after some time. I know this is something I can adjust.

But... When I do notlog-in and continue to work at my website I got this error:

Hi guys,
Looking in the install.txt it talks about seeing the handbook regarding the htaccess to use. I didn't see anything in there, nor did a search turn up anything regarding my simple question so I'll ask away!

My php has session.save_handler set to files, so I'd like to find out what to set in my htaccess to fix that. I'd also like to know how to setup mod_rewrite so I can enable clean urls, as well as any other basic drupal-related settings. Thanks in advance!
