On a site I am working on, all posts (except events) are promoted to the front page and are accessible to all users (except uploaded files for anon users). Therefore, although I have a news vocab, I have chosen not to have it as a primary link as I feel it is redundant.
However, when it comes to creating the alias for the node, I am a bit confused. Pathauto always generates the url alias based on the *first term* a node is tagged with, irrespective of the order of the vocabulary listing on the administer>>categories page. So, if I make 'News' as the first vocab, *all* posts will have url aliases such as www.domain.com/news/term/node-title. Is this a good way to define the paths for a site? Of course, each node on the site is taggable with multiple terms from different vocabs, so they would appear on the other term pages as well.
I guess the question I am really asking is whether from the users' (nonprofits, companies, individuals, registered users, anonymous users) perspective, would I be better off using any other vocab than 'News' as the first vocab so that the url alias is built based on that.
I will be thankful if anyone could give some suggestions. My main vocabs are given below. Until now, I have been using the 'Network' vocab as the first.
Vocab:
Network(parent term)
-- Requests
---- Contacts Needed
---- Educational Assistance
---- Emergency Relief
