Drupal is up and running but how do I ...?

Show user images when they post

This seems like a stupid question, but how do I get the user's image to appear when they post stories.

On a related note, is it recommend I continue to use stories or is there some spiffy new module I should replace it with.

Thanks for your patience!

User Profile ideas and features

Hello, I know about the user page themeing and some code snippets to add features to the user profile ( http://drupal.org/node/35728 ). In this post I guess I'm looking for more ideas. Not necessarily code, just ideas. What makes a good user profile?

For example, take a look at your yahoo profile. You can have a picture, news, list your hobbies, 3 favorite links, and so on. I've heard of some people making people put a zip code, then including a google map with a mark on the map. Or how about a mini blog or diary? I'm not too crazy about their own personal blog though, as I'm on your basic shared host. Private messages between users on the site might be cool as long as I limit the inbox size and such.

I know it largly matters what type of site it is. If you're trying to make a MySpace type site, then you at least know the basic features the users should have when looking at MySpace.com. The site I'm working on is named after the school district, and encourages residents in the area to post news and classified ads (and more as I think of them (job listings?!(just thought of that!))). There is also a few forums, one for school talk, one for the river trail, one for residents to talk about stuff in their town, etc. But related to the what my site is for, I have no idea what to put in the user profile. I guess that makes my site kind of like a local online newspaper, I was thinking of making profiles look like editor/reporter bios of some sort. Maybe even let them have a resume in there?

Edit the "cite" and "code" styles?

I've been trying to figure out where to make changes to the "cite" and "code" styling in the cascading style sheets for my theme... I'd like to change the formatting, as the default doesn't work very well with my themes, but I can't find a reference to these in any of the .css files. (In my theme directories or otherwise.) I'm not exactly an expert at cascading style sheets, but I've managed to hack out most of what I needed up to now. Anyone able to point me in the right direction?

Event Calendar and latest 4.6 is not respecting TZ

My Linux server has the correct timezone and date showing on the command line.

My Drupal 4.6 install has the added event.module and flexinode. When I assign the calendar to be a visible block, it shows up fine, but has the wrong date and time. It appears the date highlighted in the calendar as the current date for an anonymous web surfer is simply GMT. The admin account UID=1 has a TZ set correctly, and the anonymous account UID=0 also has the same TZ. The setting is disabled for user configurable TZ.

Remove Menu Things

Aloha,

I have installed Drupal and everything seems to work quite well... but how do I remove those pesky things that appears next to my menus?

I'm talking about the triangles and squares that appear depending on whether the menu item have subitems or not. They appear here on drupal.org menus and, of course, on the site I'm building www.planethellokitty.com.

Thanks for your help,
Mads
