Drupal is up and running but how do I ...?

Custom "register" page (transfered from "general")

Hello,

I would like to add some custom text (a "privacy disclaimer") at the beginning of the "register" page.

Does anybody here know how I could do it? This is truly driving me bananas...

In the end, here is what I did:

1) Added two functions to template.php:

Give users the option to cancel their accounts?

Hello,

I'd like to give my users a way of cancelling their account if they wish to.
How can I do it?

Is there a module out there that lets people set their account's statos to "0"?

completely new to Drupal

Hi Everyone,

I'm completely new at Drupal. I'm installed it on my PC and manage to have it working fine.
I've just spent two days ready the handbook... but...
Can someone explain how I can do a fairly simple site with categories of products and product pages. For each product I want one or more pictures and some text, some for each category...
How can I do this ? How do I specify the data I want to be stored and how it's supposed to come out ?
Can someone put me on the right track, that'd be great...
Thanks a lot,
Brice.

memcached for improving database access?

Has anyone tried using memcached for improving database access?

I am wondering about using Drupal for a big site instead of the small sites I have used so far. I see that there are PHP functions for using memcached but I guess that using it isnt as simple as just pointing to a different database server...

Anyone got any comments? Thanks

4.6.6 -> 4.7 RC1

I'm just about finishing up with making a site with 4.6.6 and I'm just wondering how easy it'll be to transfer from 4.6.6 to 4.7?

Theres going to be a few weeks of testing by a small number of users before I let everyone onto it, so:
Is it best to change to the RC1 and then update to each RC as each one comes out until the final version is released, or carry on with 4.6.6 until the final version is released and then update?

Help/Advice??

Attachment Upload problem

I have a new installation of Drupal and cannot get file attachment to work.

I switched on the Upload/Attachment module.
Set the permissions for Authenticated Users.
Set the security of the files folder to allow anyone to write to it.

When I create or edit a page, I can select a file from my PC and when I 'attach' it a url of http://server/drupal-4.6.6/files/_0 appears in the list.
