Drupal is up and running but how do I ...?

Path and Pathauto - can they both be used together?

I want to use the pathauto module, but also want to be able to create aliases for certain individual nodes manually using the path module. Will path and pathauto play together nicely? Does one override the other?

Wildcards in search form

After upgrading to 4.7 and indexing the website I tried to use wildcards in the single search form and in advanced modus. But they don't work. Here on drupal.org it is the same. Searching without wildcards works.

Is searching with wildcards not longer supported?

Thank you.

Building a Research Database

Okay gurus,

I'm looking for suggestions regarding the best way to go about building a relational research database in 4.6. My relationships will be as follows:

Many research authors working for many research organizations
Many research authors producing many research reports.
Many research reports on many research topics, including peer reviews of many research organizations.

I've started working with civicrm to manage organizational and individual contact information. However, as far as I know, civicrm currently has limited ability to interact with other modules. (Ideally, I could create a flexinode for 'research reports' that could link to authors in the civicrm database.)

I've also tried tagnode, but the many-to-many relationships get confusing, and it's hard to show the direction of these relationships (ie, is the organization the subject or producer of a report). Now, if a node type could generate terms in multiple vocabularies, then maybe it would work...

CCK might be an option, but I need to stay on 4.6 b/c of other modules I'm using.

The Relationship (Node linking and Metadata) module ultimately looks like my best option - but it doesn't seem to be ready for live sites (to say nothing about the challenges of creating new relationship ontologies - no offense, Dan, but I'm a newbie and can't make it work).

I guess that I could build the db custom - but I want this system to be able to grow as Drupal develops.

Fatal error: Maximum execution time problem

Just installed 4.7RC to test site -sucessful installation
but each time on admin/modules i get

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 120 seconds exceeded in /home/public_html/beta/includes/menu.inc on line 596

a search on google 'menu.inc on line 596' gives 231 pages so i am not alone

Can you hiding blocks while viewing forum posts?

My site has 3 columns, but I want only 2 columns when viewing the forum.

I have changed the blocks so they don't appear when viewing "forum/*" and that works great for the forum INDEX - but since the individual forum posts are nodes, there doesn't seem to be a way to disable the right column without disabling it for ALL nodes.

Is there a way around this other than going with a third-party forum module?

4.7 Rc1 bug ?

There are two things I want to report

1. After installing 4.7 RC1, everytime I logout , i cannot login again in same window, It just keeps displyaing same page withouth errors.

i have to clos my browser and then I can login in fresh browser. Is this a bug? anyone faced this ?

2. Since it is obvious that users cannot post in forum container, they can only post in forums, why display the container in drop down ?

How do I remove the containers and only pull forum names in the "New forum topic" page.
