Drupal is up and running but how do I ...?

Node question

I've noticed on mepis.org and this site that when I go to a forum post the address is mepis.org/node/8942 but on mine it is http://localhost/drupal/?q=node/6. The localhost is not an issue, Im running locally, but why is node thingy different? BTW I have a default installation.

Post install issues...

A couple of issues I cant seem to work around.......

1) If I create a menu by going administer -> menus -> add menu (then add name of new menu) -> add item (then name item and put http address, in my example I used a static page created by drupal) then submit..... then I go to blocks -> and see my new menu in list and enable it in a certain location, the block shows up but the menu item with link does not. Why?

2) Is there a calender module out there that works with a year/month/day/hour/min gui so that someone not being technical can enter an event?

Change the default behavior after a user submits content

After a user creates a story node (or any other content node type), I want the user to go to another section of my website instead of the front page. Is this possible?

Disabling child menu items under "tags"

With the Tagadelic module installed, I noticed that my vocabulary terms show up as child menu items under "tags". Although there is a "disable" link next to each of these terms, clicking on it doesn't do anything. Disabling the parent "tags" menu item doesn't help either. It just displays all the child menu items on the navigation menu.

Any ideas on how to solve this?

I am using Drupal 4.7 RC3 and the 4/18 Tagadelic CVS version.

Taxonomy and Hierachies

I want to setup two categories of vocabulary terms. One is a fixed set of terms like Technology, Business, and Sports where a user submitting a story must select at least one. The second set is a free-tagging vocabulary which the user can choose his/her own. How do I establish a relationship between these two or in other words how do I setup the hierachy?

So stories submitted may have this hierachy. Level 1 is defined by my vocabulary set. Level 2 are tags (terms) chosen by the authors:

Technology -- web 2.0
Business -- Forbes, web 2.0
Sports -- NBA Finals
