Drupal is up and running but how do I ...?

Does Drupal have a Wordpress equivalent- single column -single.php option

I just installed both Wordpress and Drupal this last week, so needless to say - just learning at this stage. Nonetheless i did want to ask others about a nice feature i came across in Wordpress, namely the single column page feature. Wordpress has this feature on the read more... feature. Clicking through the read more... link allows you to leave the standard two column page and view the full article in a single column -- no menu on right. (Wordpress's - single.php option). Does an equivalent option exist in Drupal?

How to create a contact form

Hi

I'd like to create a contact page, where visitors can send e-mail to the webmaster, using a form, without its e-mail adresse being displayed.

Is it possible to do it easily with drupal ?

Thx in advance

Menu item parent sumarize children

Hi,

I would like to create for instance a menu item "books". Under it, I want to place three book reviews.

I want that when I click on "books", I see a page that sumarize the three book reviews.

Peace and love

and so on...

As it is done by default on the home page.

But, in addition, I want to edit the text on the home page, as it was a static page.

Thx in advance.

Securing Drupal for no anonymous access?

I believe I've secured drupal so that anonymous users have no acccess to content, (/?q=node/* returns page not found), but I still have some questions.

Why does the tracker module (/?q=tracker) return back the title and author (not the body of the text) of all recent content to anonymous users? Even with the tracker module disabled, the tracker url (/q=tracker) still is accessable, which seems like a bug.

With statistics enabled, (/q=popular) an anonymous user can also see the title and author of popular content (but not the body of the text).

Problems with emails using SMTP or PHP

Hi guys,

I've been battling this issue for a while, and haven't been able to find anything in the forums to help yet. I have issues with either using the PHP functions to send mail, or using SMTP. I'm trying to allow users to sign up at my site, and have also installed the notify module to advise if there are new articles or comments posted. The issues I'm suffering with email are different depending on what I have active, though, which is kind of frustrating...

If I do not have SMTP installed, a user only gets their welcome email if they sign up with an excelguru.ca email addy. (My domain). In addition, Running tests on Notify seem to send a mail message, but also only sends to a user registered with an excelguru.ca addy. (I also tested with a gmail addy, and that's a no-go.)

If I do install SMTP (with authentication), any user can sign up with any addy. They get their welcome email, and all is good. The issue here is that notify does not work, period. I keep getting errors reading "Error sending email: Language string failed to load: from_failedExcelguru.ca From: Excelguru.ca To:emailaddy@somedomain.com"

Can someone tell me how to either:
-Let the standard install mail outside my own domain OR
-Fix the SMTP Notify issue?

I game for either fix. I just want my users to be able to sign up and get notifications.

Thanks a ton,

Creating User profiles or something else?

Hello everyone

I would like to have my users enter information about their businesses which can be viewed search…etc by other users. Each user would have 1 business profile so I can make the business info their user profile.

But is this a good idea? Will the users be able to search these profiles? Is there an easy way to show most popular profiles? Newest profiles?

Am I approaching this wrong by using the user profiles, maybe there is a different module?

Thanks!
