Import an Excel Sheet in order to create a Category/subcategory/page structure

Hi.

I have an Excel data sheet structured with these fields:

ID
Category
Subcategory
Title of the page
Body of the page

Is there a way to import it into Drupal, automatically creating a categories/subcategories/pages structure?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Guidance please: access control module comparison

Help me wade through the morass of access control modules! There are a ton available, and the information on them ranges from sparse to overwhelming. Rather than downloading ten separate modules and testing each of them individually, I thought maybe I could narrow the list first... given the guidance of anyone who's actually used some of these modules. :)

I want to have sophisticated control over access to and the visibility of:

  • nodes
  • blocks (menus, etc.)
  • modules

Based on:

  • user role
  • user ownership
  • workflow state
  • node type

Captcha on comments not captcha'ing

Hello,

I'm dealing with a spam problem. We let anonymous users post comments, so we've been recently hit by a spambot that gets in and posts a couple hundred spam comments at a time. I installed the captcha module and (since I'm on 4.6.x) installed the comments patch. It seems to work fine; that is, when I pretend to be an anonymous user, I have to enter the correct code or it won't let me proceed posting. The bot, however, has no problem with the captcha and continues to post anyway.

Internet Explorer 6.0 Can't Subscribe via Newsletter Block

First off, I have to note the customer PCs at issue are not using "Genuine" M$ products. That said, Internet Explorer 6.0.2800... on Windows XP cannot (any longer?) subscribe email addresses to a Simplenews newsletter via the newsletter block, while Firefox 1.5.0.6 and Opera 9.00 both can.

I've searched the forums and mailing list archives (http://lists.drupal.org/) and haven't found anything relevant yet. Can anyone suggest a solution or somewhere to start looking for one?

Difficult Taxonomy Challege

Hello everyone,

I'm very happy to use Drupal so far. I've used Geeklog, phpbb with Mx-Portal, and I've tried Joomla. Drupal has been the most flexible and powerful but with a very steep learning curve, which is normal for a product with many abilities and capabilities.

I have a question about categoring with the taxonomy module. I've already tried the category module but decided to settle with the taxonomy module.

Here is a challenge which is really consuming me. I've created the following structure (with different names):

Vocab: Sports
------------
Football
Basketball
Soccer

Vocab: Section
--------------
News
Players
Funnies

The above uses 2 vocabs (Sports and Section). Now, when someone submits a story or blog, they must choose at least one category from each vocab. An example story posted (Soccer and Funnies categories):

---

In most of the world, soccer is called football. The U.S. and Canada still call football soccer. Football in those countries rarely involve using the feet, except for kickoffs, field goals and extra point conversions. So, why do the U.S. and Canada call football soccer?

Soccer | Funnies

Now when someone clicks on Soccer, a page comes up with all the Soccer articles, which is what I want.

However, when someone clicks on Funnies, ALL the stories under Funnies come up, including those from Footabll and Basket and Soccer.
