Drupal is up and running but how do I ...?

How to set up a CVS?

Hi There -

Am working on my first Drupal installation. I'd like to have a CVS to work with the Project module. I have a million questions, but I'll only ask a couple now.

If someone wants to add files without a cvs present, do they go into the 'files' directory?

using php snippets in a scrolling marquee

I currently have titles of a specific content in a scrolling marquee, but I would like one of the fields to show up under the title. I tried using teasers but too much info showed up. I was able to fix this somewhat using contemplate, but under the title and the field I wanted, it also showed all the links you find at the bottom of the page (created by, time, subscribe, etc.). I just want the title and one field.

This is the php snippet I am currently using:

FTP Access

Is there a way to give (trusted) users a web ftp interface to the server? I'd like them to be able to upload, rename, and delete their own files. All the modules I've seen either have files uploaded as a node or are designed to let visitors download files.

Webform default sort order

Just a couple really quick and easy questions.

What is the default sort order for Webform?

Why is the sort order different in the edit mode than in the view mode?

I know I can force things with the weight...but if I understood the default sort order I could minimize using the weight.

It seems to sort by alphanumeric, but if I don't change the default names of the fields they seem to sort to the top and they begin with "t" for textfield.

Thanks.

Drupal pages getting indexed twice in Google

Overall, Drupal has been great in terms of SEO. However, I'm running into a pretty serious problem with pages getting indexed twice in Google (which isn't good).

For example, typically one will find the following within the search engine results.

http://www.example.com/about
AND
http://www.example.com/about/

The probably has to do with the way URL paths get handled. Are there any workarounds / hacks that can prevent this from happening?

Problems with clean urls and .htaccess

First of all, I'm trying to find .htaccess. I can only see the file when I'm logged in as the superuser and it's located in the files directory. I was under the assumption this file contained clean_url rules. (I have mod_rewrite module loaded)

However, these are the total contents of the file:
