Post installation

I'm sure this has been discussed and solved but I cannot seem to find a thread or node pertaining to it. Maybe I'm just searching for the wrong thing.

I'm trying to assign a default user picture/avatar for people who have not uploaded one yet.

My thinking is that I can check for whether or not the picture variable is empty, and if so, assign it a value which will call the default image url.

Hi! Is there any way of hiding nodes depending which page you're on?

I having a problem with nice_menus and Firefox. My menu is at the bottom of my header and in Internet Explorer it looks fine but in Firefox the nice_menu is about 5px higher than the bottom of the header. I have checked my css many times and tried to modify it but with no luck. I am certain that it is there in the margins or the padding (or something) but I can't find it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Lots of pages, including my front page, are sometimes coming up blank, but I get no error messages anywhere. Where do I start looking?

i installed the phpbb module but i am going to start using VBulliten
i want to know if i will have a problem with mt DB or anything else if i just disable and delete the phpbb module and install the VB Drupal module

also i have 4.7
but my site isnt officially launched yer do you suggest i upgrade to 5.0 then do the vb add on

How do you make required fields in CCK really required? For example, if I put together a pulldown menu with a few choices, one of them is automatically chosen. Therefore the user does not have to change anything, even if that choice is incorrect, and the information is submitted error free. Is there any way to have a blank space as the default choice and if it is not changed from that blank space it will return an error when the form is submitted?
