Help! "administer users" permission needed to view profile?! Others get "page not found"

Oh my, this is not good. And I can't figure out whats wrong. There are 4 permissions related to the user module:

- access user profiles
- administer access control
- administer users
- change own username

I have given Anonumous users the "access user profiles" permission, but still anonymous gets "page not found" when trying to view a user profile. Only if I give anonumous user the "administer users" permission, they are allowed to view a user profile. And edit it - which I obviously am not interested in...

Help!

Allowing users to promote nodes to frontpage?

I want to give some of my users the ability to promote nodes to the frontpage without having to give them full administer nodes permissions.

Is there an easy way to do this? Maybe someone out there has a hack to use the actions module or something similar?

Thanks in advance!

Publish just under allowed parent

Is it possible to restrict user to publish new pages just under specific parent in menu?
He would be able to create link with Title, description but just under the allowed parent in menu.

How to configure cron jobs in Cpanel for my Drupal site

Hello again.

My site has rss news feeds that do not "update" automatically. I learned that the cron jobs need to be configured for it to automatically update.

I installed Drupal using cpanel/fantastico. I have seen a cron jobs area at cpanel and there is a blank slot to enter something to run.

What should I enter in that cpanel/cron jobs blank area?

Please note that I am a newbie and would not understand Drupal or php linggo.

I have researched on the topic but none of the answers seems to fit with the cpanel cron jobs topic.

Thank you.

maintaining existing wiki

a week ago i set up drupal on www.savehappyvalley.org.nz and all going good. however, a wiki resides at www.savehappyvalley.org.nz/wiki/ and is now inaccessible. just wondering why this would be? drupal tells me 'page not found'. other software such as a phpbb forum at www.savehappyvalley.org.nz/blog/ doesn't have the same issues.

Suddenly Stories Are Being Truncated and Full View is Empty

Running Drupal 4.6.5 on a Linux server. It's been operating flawlessly for almost a year. I've made no changes to Drupal or to anything else that I can think of. Last night, it worked fine. Tonight, it's cutting off new story entries arbitrarily in the trimmed version and the full version preview is completely blank. It doesn't seem to matter how little or how much text I try to display. Whether or not I include a break line in the text also has no effect as far as I can tell.

What in the world could cause this?
