Drupal is up and running but how do I ...?

Role base permissions

I'm new to with drupal and am trying to set up a organizational (heirarchical) chart permissions scheme. The structure I'm trying to implement is:
.....................A1.............................
..................... |..............................
......_______________________...........
.....| ...........|.........|..............|........
....B1...........B2.......B2............B3.......
.....|............|.........|..............|........
______.....____ ... ____........ ____......

No group types have been defined.

I brought this on myself, so I don't believe it is an error that should be reported as an issue under OG module, but hopefully I can get some help here.

Synopsis

Group Visibility Settings in Group Details Block in Blocks Module reads "No group types have been defined. Please define at least one group node type under administer >> settings >> og"

Group home page node type is set to "group" in Organic Group Configuration settings.

Background

I installed OG and associated modules and began to notice wierd behavior in OG_Galleries. After extended discussion with the author of OG_Galleries (http://drupal.org/node/83179) it appeared that my condition could not be replicated in a normal operating environment.

I created a sandbox installation (Install B), using same modules activating only core, OG modules and other required modules (Views, etc). The Sandbox worked perfectly. I next deactivated all non-OG modules in the other installation (Install A) and the problem persisted there. I confirmed all admin settings were identical yet problem continued.

I deactivated all OG modules in Install A, deleted module folders, dropped OG tables and reinstalled OG from the ground up including downloading all new tars for OG and repatching as had been necessary in the past. That probably wasn't too smart an idea, as I wound up with a really broken OG. I traced the problem to the fact that the reinstalled OG did not recreate the tables that I had dropped. Fortunately I discovered the Devel module and re-installed all of the OG modules using the reinstallation feature of Devel.

Hello Friends,

I am a newbie. I have just installed Drupal 4.7.3 at: http://makrani.com/ahmadkamal/. Every thing seems fine however, at my Admin Panel - http://www.makrani.com/ahmadkamal/?q=admin - I see the following Error Message which is repeated 12 times:

" file system 2006-09-26 23:25 The directory files is not writable, because ... "

Is it possible to send mail via smtpauth?

Fatal error: Call to undefined function node_get_types()

I recently was trying to install some new modules when I noticed a problem with the notify module, I guess it didn't properly install the tables. I decided to delete the module and re-install it and I think I may have deleted something else by mistake as well.

Now my home page doesn't even pop up (even though it is "site Under Development" right now), and I can't access anything or login. All I get is Fatal error: Call to undefined function node_get_types() in c:\hosting\webhost4life\member\ctlw83\includes\theme.inc on line 248

Any suggestions??

RSS Feeds

I'm not sure what exactly I did wrong here..

The domain/node/feed format to generate the XML feed for the home page does not work for my site. It just returns the home page, complete with HTML/graphics/etc etc. The taxonomy feeds work as they should, it generates the RSS/XML, and that's great. What do I need to do to generate a RSS/XML feed for the entire site?

Thanks in advance.
Chad
