Greetings, Drupaloids. A client wishes me to revamp his 4.7 site's front page in the following way:
1) All blocks will be gone from the front page.
2) In place of the blocks and the usual front page node teasers, will be a custom layout of images and text.
3) Other than that, the other front page elements – logo and primary menu at top, mission statement, etc. – will remain the same.
To just get blocks off the front page, just using the "Show on every page except the listed pages" setting and "" for each block would be fine. But that's a nuisance to set for every block, and still wouldn't display the custom front page.
So I decided to try the front_page module, which does indeed allow design of a custom front page.* It shows up nicely in place of the usual node listing, but how to get rid of the blocks?
If I choose a THEMED front page, the blocks will show. It would seem a solution would be to individually turn them off via "Show on every page except the listed pages", but whether I specify "" or "front_page" as the no-block page, the blocks are still there.
A FULL front page is another option, and that certainly does send the blocks packing – but the desired front page elements (logo, mission, etc.) also disappear.
I'm guessing this is an easy one to fix, though my forum searching hasn't been productive yet. Does anyone have an answer?
